OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES OF THE DIGITAL TRANSITION PROJECT IN SUPPORT OF THE VARIOUS STAGES OF THE PRODUCTION CYCLE

14/02/2024

Torneria Montesi Srl has secured approval for its digital transition project to support the various stages of the production cycle

Call for proposals to support the digital transition of businesses in Emilia-Romagna. Priority 1 – Action 1.2.3 of the Emilia-Romagna ERDF Operational Programme 2021–2027

GOALS

The objectives of the project are to integrate digitalisation into the various stages of the production process, from CNC programming of machine tools to continuous monitoring of production data, including the automation of machine feeding operations through collaborative robotics.

RESULTS

The results achieved have led to improved efficiency at every stage of the production process, and in particular:

  • CNC programming is supported by CAM software, which also enables virtual simulation of machining using a digital twin approach, allowing for the balancing and optimisation of machining sequences.
  • la robotizzazione collaborativa della macchina utensile permette di sollevare le risorse umane da attività ripetitive di carico e scarico pezzo, liberando tempo per attività a maggior valore professionale ed intellettuale;
  • Continuous monitoring of machine tools connected to the software enables the extraction of vast amounts of data, useful for tracking productivity, detecting alarms generated during unmanned processes, and, last but not least, triggering predictive diagnostics for maintenance interventions.

This project, which supports the digital transition, enables our company to embark on a path aligned with the Region’s guidelines for the digitalisation of manufacturing. In the mechanical sector in particular, it allows us to maintain high levels of competitiveness, technological expertise, and attractiveness for younger staff seeking stimulating career opportunities.
